Ocean Friendly

Ocean Friendly is not a decorative logo; it is the course we hold, and it runs through everything we do. A website consumes energy with every visit: servers running around the clock, oversized images, scripts nobody needs, data shipped from one end of the planet to the other. We set out to reduce that invisible bill, page after page, project after project. The articles gathered here describe that approach in concrete terms: measuring a site’s carbon footprint, choosing hosting powered by lower-carbon electricity, slimming down images without spoiling how they look, removing what serves no one, extending the life of a site rather than rebuilding it every three years. We also talk about what we donate each year to marine conservation programs, and about how we check that these commitments do not remain mere statements of intent.
